Cooperation between the National Museum of Indonesia and Jakarta History Museum Strengthened through Koleksi Kita

Aug 1, 2025

On Friday, 1 August 2025, curators from the National Museum of Indonesia visited the Jakarta History Museum to discuss collaboration for the pilot project on documenting Aceh collections as part of the Koleksi Kita (Indonesian Museums Documentation Project). The initiative is supported by the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP).

The Jakarta History Museum holds two weapons once owned by Teuku Umar, a renowned Acehnese leader who led a guerrilla campaign against the Dutch colonial government during the Aceh War. These historically significant objects will be documented and researched under Koleksi Kita, contributing to a deeper understanding of Indonesia’s cultural heritage.

During the visit, the Jakarta History Museum team gave National Museum curators a tour of the museum’s storage areas, sharing insights on current practices and challenges. The meeting concluded with discussions on future areas of cooperation between the two institutions, aimed at strengthening documentation and access to collections.
